Donate to the Summer Camp Scholarship Fund
$25.00
The Alaska Fine Arts Academy's
Summer Camp Scholarship Fund Message from the President of the Academy: Robert Croley I'd like you to know who you are helping with your donation to the S.C.S.F. Knowing what your assistance is going to do makes it possible for you to direct your efforts and I feel that this is very important. There are many families in our community that would love to be able to afford meaningful activities for their children, I can tell you first hand. I grew up in one of those families, I was the only child of a single Mother who struggled against what felt like everything to provide for her son. As a single parent adopting two special needs children I made every effort to insure my kids were occupied but unfortunately I was forced by circumstances to assume the same role. Latch-key isn't just a circumstance, it's passed down from generation to generation. Every parent would like to have their child(ren) have a summer filled with meaningful activities, but for many kids who grew up in households like mine, summer camp of any nature is a near impossibility. Our community has many kids I'm sure that grew up like I did, like my own children did. Struggle isn't just a word to to many of the people you know, many of the kids you know... It's an ongoing challenge they meet everyday. Having meaningful activities during the summer keeps kids growing, inspires learning, provides good solid role models and provides an alternative to perpetual "Latch-Key", which will keep kids out of trouble, keeps them away from negative influences and promotes good citizenship. Your donation of $25.00 or more will help provide that kind of experience for several children. In order to sweeten the deal I'm going to give two Presidents Theater Passes to each of the five people who make the largest donation to the SCSF. If you wish to dontate more than $25.00 (and I hope you do) just increase the quantity the same way you would if you were purchasing tickets to a show. If you have any trouble call the office at 907-694-8909 and we'll be happy to help you.
